Since 1997, over 200 sessions of stray images and sound have been organised. Artists, writers, scientists and musicians present work in progress, experiment or present work that doesn't fit into their oeuvre (yet). A specific and unique stage for diverse and hybrid works which don't fit comfortably into galleries or museums.

Trent Harris

director (USA)

  1. The Beaver Trilogy

The trilogy documents Harris' obsession with a man called Groovin' Gary and combines the separate vignettes that were filmed at different times, in 1979, 1981 (with Sean Penn), and 1985 (with Crispin Glover). The films are not in distribution and can't be found on YouTube.
Especially for L&F, Trent came to Amsterdam. He explained how Gary positioned himself in front of his camera 30 years ago. When Harris wants to air Gary as Olivia Newton Dawn, Gary tries to commit suicide. In the second and third films he dramatizes this story, focusing on his own role as a director and on the power of television. It ends with Gary ordering a coffee wearing an Olivia wig as he drives off. Trent: "I wanted him to win."
