In line with national policy relating to the corona virus, Lost & Found stops its activities until further notice. Please be welcome to the Lost & Found archive.

Since 1997, over 200 sessions of stray images and sound have been organised. Artists, writers, scientists and musicians present work in progress, experiment or present work that doesn't fit into their oeuvre (yet). A specific and unique stage for diverse and hybrid works which don't fit comfortably into galleries or museums.

Ayman Ramadan

visual artist (Egypt), website

  1. Boulaq

Ayman is an Egyptian artist from downtown Cairo. He’s studing at the Rijksakademie right now. The video shows a barber from Cairo’s Boulaq neighborhood “threading” a young man’s face – a traditional, intricate process whereby the barber rapidly passes a thread over the skin, manipulating it to rip out each hair with delicate, dance-like gestures. The unflinching man bears the painful operation with a small smile, his increasingly tear-filled eyes the only sign of his distress.

Ayman tells us about the protests on Tahrir Square that take place at this very moment.
